How VEIL’s Shared Frame With NOWN Vapor Simplifies Commercial Projects

New products introduce risk on commercial projects. New mounting systems, new installation methods, new sub-contractors to brief. VEIL removes this risk by using the same engineered frame as NOWN’s Vapor ceiling system — a platform with 15 years of commercial installation history. If a contractor already knows Vapor, they already know how to install VEIL.

What is the NOWN Vapor system?

Vapor is NOWN’s established commercial ceiling system. It uses a standardised frame format compatible with both 600×1200 metric and 2’×4′ imperial grid systems — the same grid compatibility as VEIL. Vapor is specified and installed across commercial projects in the hospitality, office, and retail sectors.

The frame engineering behind Vapor covers structural performance, grid interaction, and installation behaviour — all developed and tested over years of commercial use.

What does the shared frame mean in practice?

For a project that specifies both VEIL custom-perforated panels and NOWN Vapor panels in the same ceiling — a common scenario when a feature ceiling section is combined with a standard ceiling run — the contractor uses the same installation method for both. Same hardware. Same tool. Same sequence.

For a project specifying VEIL only, the shared frame means any contractor experienced with Vapor or equivalent lay-in ceiling systems can install it. No specialist sub-contractor required. No briefing for a proprietary installation system.

Does this affect the specification or lead time?

No. VEIL panels are custom-perforated, made-to-order, laser-cut steel — each one drawn in VEIL Studio and manufactured to the specified DXF. The shared frame with Vapor is a manufacturing and installation efficiency, not a constraint on the design specification.

Every VEIL panel can still be one-of-one. Pick any RAL, drop in any image, dial in any pattern. Built in days. Shipped in weeks. The install behaviour is the same as Vapor. The simple part is yours.
